Artistic reception

We love Ms. Usher's work! I even own two. Now she is being featured at the Tripp. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Donna! Tell her you're a friend of dane decor.

Sofa, so good!

Image
Jeremy Lin called it home. We call it a sofa, the thing with cushions is arguably the most beloved — and most abused — piece of furniture we may ever own. And it's a good place to sit and contemplate the question: Just what is the purpose of the Great American Sofa ? Thanks, Baley (one of our Design Sales Consultants) for the link! The sofa NBA supernova Jeremy Lin reportedly spent nights — perhaps battling Linsomnia — before erupting into a game-changing beast and leading the New York Knicks to a euphoric win streak.

Northern Lights

Handmade things have a sense of authenticity. Unika is the brand new, hand crafted set of mouth blown glass lamps from Northern Lighting . Originally they were designed for Restaurant Gronbech and Churchill in Copenhagen. Love the clean, simple yet industrial look of these lamps.

A cool case

Image
We love vintage cameras. we love our smart phone. This is awesome. It fits all iPhone 4 and 4S versions with a one-piece, impact resistant, flexible plastic hard case featuring an extremely slim profile. Simply snap the case onto your iPhone for solid protection and direct access to all device features.

Philly fan?

Philly architecture. 10 part lecture series on the greatest building projects in Philadelphia history. If you are in to architecture, you should go! Just sayin'

The romance. The food. The free parking.

This weekend we visited an amazing French bistro near the Italian Market in Philadelphia. We BYOBed at Bibou Restaurant in Philly. The Foie Gras Duo is out of this world. So is everything. Former executive chef of Le Bec Fin, Pierre Calmels and his wife Charlotte, made us feel like celebs. NOTE: Make a reservation weeks in advance. Cash only, too.

A True Story

Image
This past Monday my wife and I went to a Goodwill store. My wife, Vanessa, found this ‘Wing” chair and is going to have it reupholstered. My opinion (which I would never say in front of my wife about this chair) “I hate it”. On Tuesday, I purchased a Danish Design chair called Koge. Our stores will have on display around June-July. I can’t wait to show my wife. I hope she will love it and let me give her chair back to Goodwill.

Book 'em dane-o

Image
We saw this neat tool to keep us organized at a friends store in Virginia and ordered them immediately. That's just the way we are! And while the bohemian bookworms among us would stack hundreds of books on the floor, we think it's a bit more civilized to keep them organized in a bookcase. Once upon a time, we fell in love with an amazing bookcase design and lived happily ever after. Available in black or white.

Hot to trot

Image
One of MENU’s designs – the Double Candleholder– is in new funky colors. Dance and movement inspire the design. Imagine a couple embraced floating across the dance floor and not noticing that they attract everybody’s attention. The colors bring a new dimension to the experience of Scandinavian stylishness making the Double Candleholder hot to trot.

a splash of color

We love things loaded with attitude, Menu’s Dropp is one of them. We saw this on-line from an Australia furniture store. Then traced it down and found out it is made in Denmark. Designed to serve fruit or bread in an unusual way of simply function as a fun container for keys, coins and gadgets. Who wouldn’t stop to admire it?

We are waiting for the fried chicken flavor!

Image
Just got some doughnuts for the first time from Federal Doughnuts at 2nd and Manton Sts. in South Philly. They make doughnuts in the morning and fried chicken for the rest of the day. We couldn't resist so we got one of each flavor. Pina Colada--amazing, Indian Cinnamon--sublime.
