Get my gourd..

Image
These Bulawayo baskets by Design Afrika  are handmade by traditional artisans from all over Africa as part of an effort to provide a sustainable income to indigenous people and preserve their local traditions. These dramatically proportioned one of a kind baskets are inspired by the over-sized vessels of South African potter  Louise Gelderblom  – but we find them very Octoberish and gourd-like .

You can take it with you!

These suitcases actually transform into a 2-seater sofa . Designed by Erik de Nijs and Tim Smit, it was inspired from his travels, homesickness, and the need for comfort while away from home.

Need an airbag!

We don’t know about you but we travel a lot. We were delighted when our eyes feasted on the AirBag . Designed by Michael Young for Hong Kong brand Zixag , this super lightweight carry-on looks to be the answer to all our luggage must haves – well designed, durable, and just plain smart. The single-stalk handle means more compartment space inside, meaning only one bump down the center instead of two. Hope to have this for our furniture shopping trip to High Point Market in April!

Ride Greener

Image
With Konstantin B, Nika Zupanc displays a playful nostalgia for a time when children had physical friends as toys rather than digital enemies. A sleek sit-on toy car featuring a lacquered epoxy body shell with aluminium and brass components, yes, it's for for little kids, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the big kid will want a ride too. Or at least put it on a pedestal.

Magical Mary Poppins Bag

Dror Benshetrit is a celebrated and award-winning international designer and architect who explores the nature of movement, space and forms. Dror for Tumi is a collaborative collection of travel, business and day bags that integrate Dror's concepts of "transformation"--in which items change their shape and/or purpose, this hardside wheeled carry-on offers two-stage expansion. It goes from 9" to 14" deep (increasing capacity by 77%) when you engage both the zipperless expansion features by pulling up on the two levels of interior pockets...love this!

Walk don't ride

Image
Carl just got back from San Antonio, Tx where he met Tito Beveridge . Don't rent a bike and try to ride the riverwalk. Especially after drinking Tito's. Carlos almost fell in!
