Terrafic...

Image
Matthew Cleland of Score+Solder makes these striking terrariums by hand in Pender Island, British Columbia, Canada. Each sculptural planter is made-to-order with handmade glass and lead-free solder and comes with everything you need but the plants. The self-contained gardens come in a variety of geometric shapes for tabletop or hanging. The earthy organic landscape juxtaposed with the modern capsule environment make them simply enchanting. At least, we think so!

Bookcases

Image
Pieter de Leeuw is a recent graduate in Industrial Design and this is his thesis: letters in various colors that can be arranged to the user’s liking. The wooden letters can also be used as seating. Slightly more conventional bookcases>

Tea for me

Image
Check out the new tea towels by Studiopatro , complete with graphic prints and lovely muted colors that make me think of Fall. The best part of their site is the Use Me section where they show the various ways in which you can use a tea towel — genius!

A clever solution for table legs, these clamps are great for any industrial-look fanatic. The legs are made from upcycled clamps and allow you to make a table from just about any surface. Here's some more...

Wall graphico...

Image
Surface View has added legendary Haynes Manual graphics to their extensive collection of imagery for use on canvases, blinds, tiles and wall-coverings. Published since 1960, the manuals include technical drawings of classic, vintage and sports cars such as the Morris Minor, Ford Capri, VW Camper, Porsche 911 and Mini. I think these are just so much fun and totally unexpected as wall decor or textiles, so they are sure to be a conversation piece.

Car Show

Image
100% TobeUs began as the brainchild of Italian architect and designer Matteo Ragni who became a father and realized that modern day toys were nothing but disposable objects with no real value or meaning. So began his quest of “giving children the possibility to love an object” and TobeUs was born – wooden toy cars made from cedar that are built to last and cleverly designed by skilled designers. Cedar, with its distinctive smell and durability, became the perfect material choice. With the help of Alessi , 100% TobeUs expanded the project to include 100 toy cars that were designed by 100 designers, all to be shown in an exhibition in Milan. Take a peek at all 100 cars here . Glass act

One of our favorite growing American companies, Kontextür , is best known for their bathroom accessories such as the Hanging Line , Rubber Ducky Doorstop , and modern shower curtain rings . But now, they’re taking their great design into other rooms of the house: the kitchen and dining room. Their new 3.2.1. Collection of hand blown and hand-etched crystal decanters and tumblers is designed by New York designer Jeff Miller . We'd love for these to grace our table for holiday meals and evening cocktails. Perfect on a modern glass table like this...no?

How it's made

It’s not often that we have the chance to share a video of the making process, but we are super excited to share this video of designer/maker Daniel Moyer creating a chair. He infuses warmth, whimsy and superb craftsmanship into his iconic American furniture collection. More classic chairs?

Boom!

Image
Manufactured by “Mr. Simo”, Boom Case is a portable stereo system primarily made from repurposed suitcases. The system will work with your iPod/iPhone, electric guitar/synthesizer or any device with a headphone jack. Other features/options include, iPod/USB charger, extra batteries and custom paint. These Boom Cases are mainly built from wooden or leather suitcases as the sound quality produced by them are superior in quality; the designer has avoided using plastic or thin suitcases since their acoustic qualities are not that great. Video> Looking for something a little more conventional and contemporary. We have these beauties from Geneva in stock:)

Some of us have trouble coordinating hands, mouth and food together to a successful conclusion. Viola. These TUKAANI (Finnish for the toucan bird species) eating devices by Lincoln Kayiwa may be held as traditional chopsticks. But unlike the disposable wooden chopsticks, TUKAANI is both machine and hand washable and much easier to set on – and use at the table. The mat surface and taut movement allow steady grip in the hand. The curl at the end provides eased food picking and delivery to the mouth. We like.
